Luke McConnell - 3D Projection, Visual Manipulation
Luke McConnell is a Lecturer in the School of Media Arts at Wintec (Waikato Institute of Technology). His research experiments with the subtle manipulations of reality through the use of 3D animation software and high definition projection. Luke has a background in music as a drummer and group percussionist and as a result a majority of his work has a live performance element, interpreting sound or emotion and representing it visually within a space. He also has a passion for geometric forms and this is often reflected in his work.
"I love the idea of creating an experience that engages multiple senses! Food taste better when it looks and smells good, the beach is more beautiful when you can feel the warmth of the sand under your feet and hear the waves crashing. That's why I enjoy collaborating with musicians! If you get it right it's a thing of beauty."
